Radio Free Skaro Invades Gallifrey 21

The countdown is on to Gallifrey 21, the world’s foremost Doctor Who convention, which gets underway on February 26 in Los Angeles, California. The Three Who Rule will be there for the second straight year, having enjoyed themselves immensely when they attended Gallifrey 20 in February 2009. If you, dear readers and listeners, are headed there this year, too, you will have the time of your lives. If you can’t make it to LA, then Radio Free Skaro has you covered, as there will be daily RFS podcasts from Gallifrey from Wednesday, February 24 to Sunday, February 28.
Each episode will be packed with interviews with actors, writers, and directors from Doctor Who, as well as the typical japery and nonsense that usually accompanies Radio Free Skaro podcasts. So keep checking the feeds and iTunes starting on February 24 as Radio Free Skaro brings the Gallifrey experience to you!

Matthew Graham to write for Series Fnarg+1?

Friend of the site Simon Brew over at Den of Geek is reporting that Matthew Graham, creator of the landmark series Life on Mars and its follow-up Ashes to Ashes, and of course best known in the Doctor Who world for writing Fear Her in the second series of NuWho, will return to the Whoniverse in Series 6/2/32. No confirmation has yet come, however if this holds true he would be joining Neil Gaiman and (maybe) Jack Thorne in writing for Matt Smith’s sophomore outing.

Neil Gaiman To Still Write For Doctor Who?

The notion of Neil Gaiman writing for Doctor Who apparently isn’t dead yet. The acclaimed writer appeared at the UCLA on February 4 for a speaking engagement. During his appearance, Gaiman answered several questions from the audience, one of which was about writing for Doctor Who. Jace Lacob, writer/editor of the award-winning television website Televisionary, was in attendance, and posted this comment on Twitter after the performance:
When asked if he will ever write a Doctor Who script, Neil Gaiman (@neilhimself) nodded emphatically. Hmmm…
Gaiman had previously been rumoured to be writing a script for Matt Smith’s first series as The Doctor until he himself denied it on his own Twitter feed. While Gaiman hasn’t confirmed anything yet beyond his UCLA appearance, a Doctor Who script still appears to be a distinct possibility.
Gaiman could possibly join Skins writer Jack Thorne as a writer for the next series, as Thorne confirmed on his Twitter feed in July that he was also working on a script for Doctor Who.

Series Fnarg Episode Titles Revealed!

The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, #418, has revealed the titles for the first three Series Fnarg episodes! While spoiler hunters will have known the name of Matt Smith’s debut episode, the other two were well-kept secrets. Beginning Matt Smith’s premiere series will be The Eleventh Hour, penned by Steven Moffat and a wonderful double entendre, followed by The Beast Below also by Moffat, while episode 3 will see the return of the Daleks in Mark Gatiss’ Victory of the Daleks. Series Fnarg will begin transmission in Spring 2010.]]>

< The news of a Doctor Who movie sent The Three Who Rule so far past the point of bile they circled back around to apathy, but not without taking a few hostages along the way. In a slow news week to end all slow news weeks, digression and hatred were employed like plow horses in an effort to simply fill time. Steven points the gun of spite squarely in a new direction, Warren wastes no time in slagging off other Sci Fi TV shows and Chris even sings a few bars… it’s just that kind of episode. |

Dreamland North America DVD Release

Along with the previously-announced releases on May 4, it has now been announced that Dreamland, the recent animated episode written by Phil Ford, will see a release on the same day in a 2-disc set. As has previously been noted on Radio Free Skaro, the bulk of the bonus features are the Greatest Moments montage specials transmitted last year in the UK, however a commentary will be included.

Radio Free Skaro #178 – Fnargengruven
< In a move that could be precipitated only by Slownewsweekor, the Three Who Rule relied upon Torchwood discussion to fuel the latest Radio Free Skaro episode. The news of Torchwood maybe coming to America hit like a ton of bricks and startled much of the Doctor Who world, causing panic and looting; there may or may not have been talk of small children getting crushed underfoot as a result. |

May North American DVD Releases

May 4 will see the North American release of both Peladon stories from the Jon Pertwee era, The Curse of Peladon and The Monster of Peladon, as well as the 1976 Tom Baker story The Masque of Mandragora. What’s interesting to note is that the Peladon stories will only be sold separately, as opposed to the box set that came out this month in the UK.
