On this thrilling episode of Radio Free Skaro, Chris is on assignment and in his stead the redoubtable Erika Ensign of Verity! fame joins in the fun as we examine the final incidence of Stats (cue the music), Ben Pickles’ amazing show reel from his years on the show, the ever-present Timelash, and part one (featuring Chris!) of our Classic Series Commentary for “Earthshock”! (Cyberman Voice) Excellent!
It’s an epic-length RFS this week as the predicted onslaught of RTD2 era-to-be news overwhelms us, including the surprise but not surprise that Disney+ will be the worldwide host of our favorite televsion show everywhere but in the UK, where it will remain on the BBC. New Doctor Ncuti Gatwa is everywhere and everywhen including press conferences, BBC intro videos and more, and we have a look at the MRAHH BUSINESS of it all with media professor and all around fine fellow Derek Kompare! We also have author and Doctor Who screenwriter Paul Cornell with his take on what has come and what is yet to be along with a look at Saucer Country, his latest comic book project. All this AND The TImelash? Yes indeed!
It’s the end of an era, but the moment has been prepared for! But have the Three Who Rule prepared for the cavalcade of companions, story threads (tied up) and FEELS of “The Power of the Doctor”? What do they think of our new 14th Doctor, who is also our old 10th and possibly 10.5 and definitely Handy Doctor? Or in the words of the man himself, “What? What? WHAT??”
There is only one week left in the era of the Jodie Whittaker era of Doctor Who! This week saw the (embargoed) premiere in the UK, a broadcast time (at last), and some promotional material, care of Doctor Who Magazine. Kyle Anderson from Nerdist drops by to give his thoughts and opinions on the lead-up to the Whittaker/Chibnall finale, plus the era as a whole. Next week: new Doctor Who!
All hail Jodie Whittaker, for she is the headlining guest of Gallifrey One 2023 and that is wondrous for all and sundry. We also, shockingly enough, have a new (but underwhelming) trailer for “The Power of the Doctor”, confirmed to grace our airwaves October 23! Plus a traipse through The Timelash, the Radio Times appealing to hoarders everywhere to give up missing episodes, and for all you sports fans out there, the RFS hat trick of Steven finally getting COVID! All curse the Swarm!
It’s Part the Second of our Miniscope on Doctor Who director James Hawes, with our hot takes about shows from more than a decade ago, namely “The Christmas Invasion”, “New Earth”, and “School Reunion”! What are our thoughts? You’ll have to drum your fingers waiting as we cogitate about Big Finish releases, the ever-present Timelash, Tennant, Tate and lockdowns and the ever-present blight of prequels in today’s streaming media environment!
A monumental episode as there are now more Radio Free Skaro episodes in the wild than there are Doctor Who episodes! And to celebrate this, Chip from Two-minute Time Lord joins us to give us a temperature check on the current state of Doctor Who. Also, we present the first half of our Miniscope on Doctor Who director James Hawes, who helmed “The Empty Child” and “The Doctor Dances”!
After months of waiting, drumming our fingers, and alternating between hype and apathy, or hype-athy if you will, we finally have a title for Jodie Whittaker’s final story as the Thirteenth Doctor, and that title is…The Power of the Doctor. Not much to go on, but that won’t stop the Three Who Rule from mightily cogitating based on those five words, as well as talking about the new Flux soundtrack, Daleks in comic strip form, more Big Finish stuff, and as always, The Timelash!
It is a sad day worldwide as noted Doctor Who fan Queen Elizabeth II has passed onto her final rest, and at any rate we have very little Who news to discuss but we do have Big Finish updates, a Cubicle7 Doctor Who RPG Humble Bundle, Steven and Erika are Hugo winners again but most importantly The Timelash delves into Doctor Who history and plumbs the depths of trivial nonsense for you, dear listener!
The Fallow Times of No Doctor Who and Even Less Information continues, but our friends across the pond at least had events with real live Doctor Who people to meet at FCC Birmingham and Whooverville 13, Abominable Snowmen BFI excitement, and most importantly, our thoughts on Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and even more importantly still a pristine copy of William Shatner in his 1978 performance of Elton John’s “Rocket Man” in pristine 3/4-inch U-matic quality! All of which is mere lead in to The Timelash, hashing out key (and not so key) dates in Doctor Who history so you don’t have to!
