Radio Free Skaro #228 – Click here to listen

The Pandorica Opens was the focus of most of this episode of Radio Free Skaro, thanks to a light news week. Good thing, too, as Pandorica was another triumph from Series 5, featuring many power mad conspirators – Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen – gathering together to fight their greatest enemy, The Doctor. Such a visual feast put the Three Who Rule in danger of becoming transfixed on what they were watching, but they managed to mostly steer clear of the silence for the time being. Ah, yes. The Silence. More on that next week…

A Christmas Carol Coming to DVD and Blu-Ray February 15

<![CDATA[

North American Doctor Who fans won’t have to wait long to see the 2010 Christmas Special on DVD, as today it was announced by BBC America that
Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol will be arriving on DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday, February 15 in North America. Usually these one-off releases contain very little in the way of extras (which are saved for the box set that comes out in November of each year), but this release will contain the 60-minute version of Doctor Who at the Proms. This matches the same DVD/Blu-ray that will come out for the Christmas special in the UK on January 24.

Radio Free Skaro #227 – Click here to listen

For the first time in many months, the Three Who Rule were delighted to welcome Tachyon TV’s Neil Perryman back into the fold to not only discuss the week that was in Doctor Who, but to be present for Neil’s first commentary since watching The Stolen Earth 27 times in one weekend to prepare the last ever Tachyon TV commentary podcast. The episode in question is Gareth Roberts’ The Lodger, episode 11 of Series 5. As usual with Neil, the boundaries of decency for Radio Free Skaro were pushed ever further, as was the level of integrity and humour. A good time was had by all!

More Doctor Who Series 6 Details

<![CDATA[Piers Wenger, executive producer of Doctor Who, was recently interviewed by Crave Online and gave some tidbits regarding the upcoming Series Six. Among other details, Wenger mentioned the DVD branding for the upcoming series will probably have everything labeled Series Six although the production staff is treating each half as a separate series. Wenger also noted the return of Toby Whithouse, creator of Being Human and author of The Vampires of Venice last series, who will be penning an episode. Likely precluding the Daleks coming back, a first for any series since the show’s return in 2005, Wenger also said there will be no classic Doctor Who monsters returning in the upcoming series.

Other items get discussed, such as the mystery of River Song, the impact of Amy and Rory’s marriage, consideration of having Paul McGann return and the possibility of more overseas filming. Read the full interview here.]]>

Radio Free Skaro #226 – Click here to listen

The time has finally come for The Three Who Rule to sink their teeth into Vincent and the Doctor as the Series 5 commentary series continues. Vincent has been a polarizing episode both amongst the Radio Free Skaro gang as well as much of fandom in general with opinions firmly seated on both sides of the fence. Will opinions change with another viewing and an open debate? Will assertions of greatness or dreadfulness fall on deaf ears? The news of the week rounds out this episode along with a teaser of what’s to come next week…

SPACE To Air Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol on December 26

<![CDATA[SPACE, the home of Doctor Who in Canada, has announced that Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol will air on Sunday, December 26 at 9pm ET – one day after the BBC will air it in the UK and the American premiere of the 2010 Christmas Special on BBC America. While not matching the day-and-date airing of BBC America, the one day delay is the quickest turnaround of a Canadian broadcast since The End of Time, Part Two aired on January 2, 2010, a day after it aired in the UK. Listen to the upcoming Radio Free Skaro episode #226 this weekend to hear The Three Who Rule’s take on this news.]]>
