Radio Free Skaro #573 – Stevie Nicks

No sooner did we joke about Mondasian Cybermen in Series 10 than they magically appear in a publicity shot with one Peter Capaldi! While we’d like to claim prophetic wisdom in this matter, we had no inside knowledge and this was likely a “going out in style” wish from one Mr. Capaldi, and we are all the better for it. P-Cap will also be gracing the small, inconsequential town of Calgary, AB for Calgary Expo at the end of April, to the delight of bouffant enthusiasts across the Canadian prairies! And in other good news, we have two interviews to round out our Gallifrey coverage, one with the voice of the Daleks, Cybermen (plus many others) and Big Finish man about town Nicholas Briggs, and the other with writer, director, actor and Dalek operator Nicholas Pegg! Do we have the right? Of course we do!

Hi guys. I’m really loving all of your interviews from Gally. I especially loved the Nicholas Pegg story about Capaldi driving Davros’ chair. I was listening in the car and nearly crashed! I hope we get more Capaldi behind the scenes stories over time. He’s been so great as the Doctor but seems truly under appreciated.

I’ve decided to head to Calgary for the Expo. I was wondering if you guys have any advise on the best hotel. Ideally, it would have the easiest access to the Expo. They don’t seem to have a recommendation so any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Keep up the wonderful work. Can’t wait to see Series 10.

Hi Lisa! The one year I went (2013) I stayed at the Fairmont Palliser downtown (133 9 Ave SW). It had a con rate for rooms and, at least at the time, was where the con put guests up, or so I was told (I never saw any celebs there, though). It was about a 15 minute walk to the con grounds.

https://calgaryexpo.com/the-show/hotels/ has some recommended hotels (and con rates!) and I imagine most would be fine for location. Have fun!
