If Radio Free Skaro was ever made into a lackluster dystopian future series of adventures for the tween set (which it won’t, ever), it would have to be called “Digression,” because that was the tenor of the first few minutes of this episode. Eurovision is rightly disparaged, Warren is baffled by football, and Steven vainly (sort of) tries to get things back on track by lovingly describing Peter Capaldi’s swelling bouffant. Gross. But there’s also a commentary for the Jamie Mathieson penned “Mummy on the Orient Express,” featuring Reality Bomb’s own Alex Kennard! You have 66 seconds to start listening!

Love your show guys but I just had to stop the commentary. I love MOTOE and even enjoyed series 8. It was just hard to enjoy the show while listening to critism I strongly disagree with. Especially when the critic continually mispronounced the great Peter Capaldi’s name.
I commend you for inviting diverse opinions on your program. It’s what all shows should do. As a new fan of the show I guess I’ve reached my limit in listening to series 8 criticism. I just don’t understand people who can’t see how great it was.
Sorry if this seems like a rant. I just couldn’t help commenting.
We are huge fans of Series 8, as well, and of Mr. Capaldi, so it does shock us that so many were vocal about their displeasure with the series. Some of our friends have differing opinions, but we feel they’re at least intelligent about their criticisms. I’m sure Series 8 will grow on people even more over the years…or get even better in the eyes of those who adored it the first time round, like you and I!
Well said, Steven. And I sincerely hope you’re right about the series 8 critics seeing the light eventually. Until I found this podcast I was convinced most veteran Who fans hated it. Loudly so. I truly thank you all for being an oasis in the sea of negativity I discovered in my initial search for likeminded fans.
After loving series 8 I’ve literally just finished watching all of nuwho. I understand better how jarring a change it was to go from Smith to Capaldi. You’re probably right that people may appreciate the differences more over time.

In the meantime, I can’t wait for series 9!
As a Brit in Australia i am loving your commentaries on the IPL and Eurovision.
In case it hasnt been answered, batsmen in cricket “play a shot” or a “stroke”
I look forward to your observations when The Ashes start in July
Cheers
