< Fancy a Doctor Who historical? Even those that don’t exist anymore (for now)? The Three Who Rule certainly did, and so writer John Lucarotti, the scribe behind “Marco Polo,” “The Aztecs,” and “The Massacre (of St. Bartholomew’s Eve)” was the focus of this week’s Miniscope. Warren decided to go down a more textual path, and read the Target novelization of Marco Polo, while Steven and Chris braved the wild world of fan recons. Gallifrey One 2015 – First Guest Update

| The first guest update for the 2015 edition of Gallifrey One has been announced, and it’s jam packed with some new faces to Gallifrey One, as well as some old favourites! |
 Eve Myles was the heart and soul of Torchwood through all four seasons of the Doctor Who spinoff. She also appeared as Gwyneth in the 2005 Doctor Who episode “The Unquiet Dead”, and is an absolute hoot at conventions! This will be her first appearance at Gallifrey One. |
 Derrick Sherwin was producer and/or script editor for Doctor Who throughout the latter half of Patrick Troughton’s reign in the TARDIS. He also wrote the 1968 story “The Invasion”, and he also created UNIT, which was a staple for the entire Jon Pertwee era. This will be Derrick’s first appearance at Gallifrey One. |
 Janet Fielding is returning to Gallifrey One! Always a Gally favourite, Janet played Tegan Jovanka alongside Peter Davison for almost the entire run of the Fifth Doctor. Janet also had a hilarious cameo in “The Five-ish Doctors” in November 2013. |
 Sophie Aldred portrayed Ace onscreen during the Seventh Doctor era of Doctor Who, and has gone on to portray her in several Big Finish audios since then. One of the most beloved convention guests ever, Sophie makes her long awaited return to Gallifrey One next year. |
 Wendy Padbury played Zoe Heriot from 1968’s “The Wheel in Space” until the last story of the 1960’s., the ten-part epic “The War Games”. Wendy has appeared at several previous editions of Gallifrey One, and it’s great to have her back in LA once again in 2015. |
 Kai Owen played Gwen Cooper’s loyal but slightly overwhelmed husband Rhys in all four seasons of Torchwood, eventually becoming an almost full fledged member of the Torchwood team by the end. Kai previously appeared at Gallifrey One in 2009. |
 When Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner first set up shop to produce Doctor Who in 2004, casting director Andy Pryor was the person they hired, and Andy has been in that position to this day. During that time, he has had a strong hand in casting four different Doctors, several companions, and several hundred other actors that have graced the screen since the Doctor Who premiered in 2005. This is Andy’s first Gallifrey One appearance. |
 Danny Hargreaves is another veteran of the Doctor Who production team, and has been in charge of the visual effects on Doctor Who for several series now. This is Danny’s first Gallifrey One appearance, and he may even be bringing some of his tricks of the trade along with him… |
 Terry Molloy wasn’t the first to play the role of Davros, the Daleks’ creator, but he has certainly made it his own, playing Davros onscreen three times, and several times since then in various Big Finish audio plays. |
 Can Gallifrey One even exist without Frazer Hines being there? Frazer Hines played Jamie McCrimmon, longtime loyal companion of the Second Doctor, and he is a loyal companion to Gallifrey One, as well. |
 Christopher Neame, now based in Los Angeles, played Skagra, the main villain of the strike-cancelled “Shada”, which was supposed to close out Season 17 in 1980. This is Christopher’s first appearance at Gallifrey One, although he will only be able to appear on the Saturday of the convention. |
 You might not know the face of Sarah Louise Madison without her costume on, but rest assured, she has scared the pants off of you. Sarah has played one (or more) of the Weeping Angels in every televised appearance of the menacing statues, including “The Time of Angels” and “The Angels Take Manhattan”. This will be Sarah’s first appearance at Gallifrey One. |

Radio Free Skaro #423 – The Life Aquatic with Michael E Briant
< Doctor Who is coming back in August, and the internet has the brief, presumably-Capaldi-silhouette-filled trailer to prove it! But the RFS lads were equally enamoured with a recently released fan trailer of P-Cap and J-Co traipsing around in the rain, made by none other than the mysterious John Smith, who not only created the stellar Wholock trailer that consumed the internet, but also appears in Warren’s own Skaromantic Comedy as the random victim of a comely Dalek lass!
But enough quasi-self-promotion, today’s Miniscope guest is none other than Michael E. Briant, director of “Colony in Space”, “The Sea Devils”, “The Green Death”, “Death to the Daleks”, “Revenge of the Cybermen”, and “The Robots of Death”! Though we included our cogent analysis on said stories, we also went straight to the man himself, with an in-depth interview with Steven about his time on the show, the freedom afforded a television director in the 1970s, and even Briant’s new life as a full-fledged sailor. Radio Free Skaro #422 – Nobody Slaps Cyril Shaps
< A shocking (O’ the Quawncing Grig) amount of news this week, including the inclusion of Tank Girl director Rachel Talalay as a Series Eight helmer for two episodes, Doctor Who returning to Lanzorate for the aforementioned Series Eight, A Doctor Who comics Humble Bundle, and more! By far the coolest news of the week, at least for production nerds such as ourselves, was the release by Restoration Team member Paul Vanezis of a behind the scenes video showing the process of cleaning up and transferring the recently discovered film print of Enemy of World. Sprockets! Gears! Troughton on a beach! And speaking of Troughton, this week’s commentary is the all-time classic Tomb of the Cybermen! Sit back, warm up a mug of your favourite beverage, and enjoy as Cyril Shaps and some other people battle the second-deadliest foe in the Whoniverse! Radio Free Skaro #420 – The Fact of Fiction
< Will someone just rename this the “Pointless Speculation about Star Wars Episode VII Podcast” already? After listening to the opening of this week’s Radio Free Skaro, they might! The Three Who Rule did eventually bring the latest Doctor Who news to the table, along with an interview with writer, script editor and classic series producer Derrick Sherwin, but (mostly due to Warren, as usual) there were many digressions, including unrestrained bile for new Terminator films, studious avoidance of discussion of a certain naughty parody film, and the aforementioned Sturm Und Drang about a certain movie with laser swords coming Xmas 2015.
