Radio Free Skaro #366 – Click here to listen!

rfs366Neil Gaiman’s sophomore effort is one of the most divisive in the history of new Doctor Who, with some fans adoring his take on the Cybermen and others viewing precocious children and speedy metal men with disdain. But what did the Three Who Rule think? What are Chris’s views on the Proper Use of the Pimp Hand? Was Steven his usual cheery self, and did Warren find time to admonish his fellow nerds for overexcitement? Mix in stats, leaked Series 7 DVDs, fake Target book covers, and more, and you’ve got yourself a veritable jambalaya of Doctor Who conversation for slightly less than an hour!

  1. You can say what you like about the two kids, but that Cyber-Planner couldn’t find a single trace of the Time Lord in all the records he had at his cyber-fingertips, while those kids had no trouble at all finding a whole trail of evidence to nail the Doctor as a time-travelling alien.

  2. The conjecture from Ed Russell considering if ‘Nightmare In Silver’ might have been improved if Steven Moffat had done a polish on it[Ahem!],started me wondering if we’d ever see writers collaborating on a story now like Graham Williams and Douglas Adams,Bob Baker and Dave Martin or Terrance Dicks and Malcolm Hulke.I just wonder how that would work now.I think that comment was probably intended as a joke as i doubt Moffat would do a re write on a script from a writer of Gaimans’ stature or Gaiman would be enthusiastic about anybody altering a story his name was attached to.

  3. Hi guys, I probably feel about the episode the way you do – some things done really well, others less so (I too hated the kids). But it certainly didn’t deserve the online panning it got immediately afterwards.

And on the subject of those Target covers – I love those on the Reprint Society, even the Slitheen one! I’ve done a couple of amateurish ones myself, nowhere near the quality of Old Type 40.

  4. Mea Culpa. After a nights sleep,i remembered Phil Ford was awarded a Hugo for a story with Russell T Davies back in the day called Waters Of Mars and Gareth Roberts wrote Planet of the Dead with him too.So it is possible and can still happen now.Sorry.
