Radio Free Skaro #219 – Click here to listen

The Series 5 commentary series resumes this week with a look at the latter half of the stellar return of the Weeping Angels, “Flesh and Stone”. Instead of stunned silence, though, which one might expect to occur when watching something as entrancing as this, the Three Who Rule instead descended into heated arguments about Battlestar Galactica and the debatable merits of rock operas. One thing that they could all agree on, though, is that The Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone are fine examples of some of the best television ever made.
Show Notes:

  1. Stop pick in on Russel-just kidding.

Great podcast. Thank you for all your work.

The one thing I was expecting you to cover was the release of the Specials Soundtrack. Like Steven I was excited that I got the notice from iTunes that it was available to download one day before it’s release. A day later I went on to the iTunes store to see if they had been any reviews and was surprised that the Specials Soundtrack was completely gones. Obviously iTunes Canada made a mistake and the soundtrack should have been released a month later, but talk about your happy accidents!
I really have been enjoying the soundtrack and Reading Murray’s comments on the tracks. The only piece I missed was the music used during the “I’m going to win!” section of Waters of Mars. I love me a rousing Murray Gold music cue, but I could see why he didn’t use it with the part before the 3 knocks being a direct cut of “All the Strange Creatures” but after that I thought that quick piece was quite nice. Oh well.

Finally, have you noticed how much of the promo art is from the 3D series 5 teaser. Specifically the blue whirling time vortex? Do you think they regret using the lightning filled cloud tunnel? I mean even the cover of the series 5 box set has the promo time tunnel and not the cloud one. To me the promo time tunnel is more magical and in keeping with the series.

Ok, I better go now. Thank you again for all your work.

  2. Fun yet again, except for all of the blathering about Battlestar Galactica. I’ll have to take points off for that.

  3. To whichever of you it was that said Jesus Christ Superstar is great – you are absolutely correct!
