Truncated Doctor Who? Normally nerds would scream bloody murder at such impertinence, but not when it’s the official Doctor Who YouTube page with half hour versions of “The Masque of Mandragora” and “The Hand of Fear”! Other bibs and bobs this week included photos of Matt Smith trying on test outfits before he went full tweed, Big Finish news and Target book delays, but let’s be frank, you’re here for the second part of our look at look at director Douglas McKinnon’s work on “Listen”, “Time Heist”, “Flatline” and “The Husbands of River Song” in…the Miniscope!

Both America and Canada celebrated their birthdays this week, and Radio Free Skaro was there on July 1st via Twitter to highlight the Doctor Who accomplishments of some notable Canucks working in the Doctor Who trenches over the show’s 50-year history. In other news, we’re all addicted to varying degrees to the simplistic Thirteen tile game, and there’s a Series 6 Blu-Ray steelbook headed to UK fans in early August. Whoop! But let’s cut to the chase here, it’s our 750th episode, and to celebrate, we have the first part of a look at director Douglas McKinnon’s work on Doctor Who…in the Miniscope!

The news is thinner than David Tennant’s waistline this week, despite the appearance of good ol’ Number 10 along with current TARDIS occupant 13 herself on James Corden’s late night talk show. Gallifrey One hotel rooms are opening up this week, a peek at Time Lord Victorious and…that’s the extent of it. Perhaps it’s the fault of the advanced science of tachyonics as seen in Part One of our Classic Series Commentary for…”The Leisure Hive”!

Now that the Doctor Who tweetalongs are winding down, we’re back to the Time of (Almost) No News, which seems apt given the Cavalcade of Things occurring in the real world at the moment, but there’s some Steven Moffat bonus content in the form of “The Best of Days”, a bonus bit of Nardole/Bill content, along with the script for “Blink,” one of his most lauded works, being available for download. Plus there’s some hot Rory content coming from Big Finish, learnin’ stuff from Twinkl and the BBC, and the antithesis of education in the form of…Fluid Links!

Sometimes the world outside our Doctor Who fandom has to be accounted for and engaged with. We hope we can bring some levity to your week nonetheless, but we implore you to do your own reading, research and thinking. We also have a miniscope with Steve Thompson, the (possibly fictional?) writer of “The Curse of the Black Spot”, “Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS”, and “Time Heist”, and we will once and for all determine if he exists! Or will we?

The Doctor Who tweetalongs organized by Emily Cook will continue until morale improves, which it has, due to tweetalongs! Specifically “New Earth”, “Gridlock”, and “The Rings of Akhaten” along with some Long Song bonus content. Want more? Noel Clarke interviews RTD and if you’re American, HBO Max has all of “new Who” (minus Series 12, out on Blu-ray next month) for you! Plus more Big Finish, DVD news, and Doctor Who on Turkish television along with the grand finale of our “Planet of the Daleks” commentary featuring..the Three Who Rule!

The pandemic podcasts continue with this week’s guest Danica Leblanc, co-owner of Edmonton-based comic shop Variant Edition, who updates us on the trials of retail and general survival in the Time Of COVID. But we’re not alone, as there is a breaking Gallifrey One update, more tweetalongs, Big Finish announcements, new dollies coming to North America, assorted nonsense, and the continued excitement of our “Planet of the Daleks” Classic Series Commentary with special guest Paul Cornell!

The lockdown continues across the world, and this week we welcome one Erik Stadnik from the Czech Republic and Doctor Who: The Writer’s Room fame to regale us with tales of eastern European quarantine along with good natured badinage about this week’s news, which includes further tweetalongs, “Time Lord: Victorious” news, new Doctor Who video games, and a boatload of Who scripts from Series 12 for your enjoyment! And speaking of fun, we have the first two episodes of our “Planet of the Daleks” Classic Series Commentary with comedian, Who-storian, writer Toby Hadoke!

The Swarm continues, and with it comes fine Doctor Who-related content such as the tweetalong for “The Zygon Invasion/The Zygon Inversion” with one Peter Harness, who is also this week’s featured guest! (Stay tuned for the short discussion about Eurovision!) We also wrap up the first half of our epic Classic Series Commentary of “Frontier in Space” and “Planet of the Daleks” with Big Finish writer, Verity! co-host, and “The Time Monster” advocate Liz Myles!

Hotelmageddon! Yes, even in this time of the Swarm, the love for Doctor Who and celebration of said televisual program continues unabated as we all hope to see each other at Gallifrey One in February 2021 at the LAX Marriott, the room block for which is now sold out. In the meantime, there’s a great panel with three Doctors Who and friend of the show Riley Silverman, plus the usual Big Finish, Doctor Who Magazine and whatnot, plus a new discussion about noted communist agitator Malcolm Hulke! And if that isn’t enough proletariat agitprop, we have the second half of our “The Leisure Hive” commentary! Tachyoneriffic!
