As we crawl ever closer to the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who and three David Tennant specials the news has gone from a trickle to a flood and the Three Who Rule are struggling to stay above the waves of information and indeed, this very strained metaphor. We have a release date (November 25!), a Disney+ trailer, a press release, promo pics, writer news, BluRay and Big Finish updates, a Humble Bundle and most importantly, a project to create the longest Doctor Who scarf ever. Thrill to our debate as to what makes a “proper” Doctor Who scarf and discover if you are a Scarf Truther or merely sane.

The controversy continues as An Unearthly Child remains AWOL on the BBC iPlayer, and further flashpoints occur as the Three Who Rule wildly speculate on the continued insistence of the BBC to pretend it’s still 2008 while Disney+ does whatever it’ll do in regards to airing the upcoming David Tennant specials and beyond. Plus animation, a Who exhibit at Riverside Studios, Vicki is back in Big Finish form and Warren has an interview with author DG Valdron about his three-book series diving deep into Doctor Who fan films, “The Pirate’s Histories of Doctor Who”!

Doctor Who has been Unleashed! Yes, Confidential is returning in the form of Doctor Who: Unleashed and roaming around biting people and then having a nap or possibly catching a frisbee in its teeth. In reality a whole new generation of behind-the-scenes nerds will have a new look at the process of making Doctor Who, which is most exciting. There’s also the Doctor Who @60 concert, which is headed to the iPlayer and BBC Sounds on October 15 and will include the new Who theme along with other new and old material, which is most exciting. The time has come once again for everyone to lose their collective minds as a real, proper, UNIT-y, Toymaker-centric trailer graces our internet and airwaves featuring David Tennant, Donna Noble, Jemma Redgrave, and Ncuti Gatwa in two minutes and change of new footage! What did the Three Who Rule think? And what are their opinions on news such as a UK free live tv service over broadband, a Radio Times list of the top 100 television shows and radio programs, and what do they think about Big Finish Ood adventures featuring Torchwood! All of that is mere piffle however compared to the main event, a long-gestating analysis of Canadian sci-fi television “legend” The Starlost, featuring Steven, Warren, Harlan Ellison editor, author and friend Jason Davis and Incomparable host and producer Annette Wierstra. Prepare the Bounce Tube!

Plus we have new photos in EW that are ever-so-slightly different from what we’ve already seen of the three Tennant specials, a spurious rumor about Ryan Gosling in Doctor Who, and Jemma Redgrave saying “not really, no” to a UNIT spinoff, plus a BFI premiere, a yearbook, Dan Slott’s “Once Upon a Time Lord” is finally almost here, and Part the Second of our Classic Series Commentary for “Mawdryn Undead”!

It’s a bumper crop of news this week with confirmation of Ncuti Gatwa’s second season being built as you read this, Rose Noble as played by Yasmin Finney, more Marvel and Disney+ machinations, and hold onto your wallets because Doctor Who: Magic the Gathering is due to arrive in October, if you haven’t already spent your cash on audio annuals, new Big Finish releases and a plane ticket to Chicago TARDIS to see Doctor Who legend Carole Ann Ford! All this, and we also have an extensive interview with one Toby Hadoke about all things Quatermass!

It’s a mystery that isn’t as the BBC publishes then pulls confirmation that Ncuti Gatwa’s first series will air in “Spring 2024”, as we all suspected. This had the unsurprising effect of clickbait farms pondering on Doctor Who’s future, which in actuality will also feature Big Brother and Dead Set’s own Davina McCall and Indira Varma! We also have a video essay about I, Claudius (because of course we do), details on the book launch of Simon Guerrier’s “David Whitaker in an Exciting Adventure with Television”, Big Finish endings and audiobook news, and most excitingly, Part One of our Classic Series Commentary of “Mawdryn Undead”!
